Working in the sustainability area Lois Schmidt thinks a lot about how she can save energy. As a Sustainability Advisor at Sunraysia Institute of TAFE she is responsible for helping improve the Institute’s environmental impact and educating 400 staff across four campuses on how to be more environmentally friendly.
Lois recently used the Victorian Government's Victorian Energy Compare tool to see if she could find a better electricity offer for her home.
She found that she could save $200 each year by switching electricity suppliers.
"As I live in a single person household, my energy usage is not that much so it was great to learn that I could save some money.
"I encourage everyone to take a look at the Victorian Government's Victorian Energy Compare online tool and compare electricity plans to find out the best offer for them.
"People tend to not question their energy bills but it pays to shop around – just like you do for house or car insurance.
"It's important for people to proactively manage their energy usage and the Victorian Government’s independent website is a good place to start."
